How to Play Video Poker
Video Poker combines the excitement of poker with the simplicity of a slot machine. In Jacks or Better — the most common variant — you're dealt five cards. You choose which to hold and which to discard. The discarded cards are replaced, and your final hand is evaluated against a paytable. Any hand containing at least a pair of Jacks or better wins.
How to Play
Set your bet (1, 5, 10, or 25 credits) and click Deal. Five cards appear. Click any card to hold it (held cards glow blue and lift up). Click Deal again to replace the non-held cards. Your final five-card hand is evaluated and you're paid according to the paytable.
Strategy
- Always hold a made hand (pair of Jacks+, two pair, etc.).
- Hold four to a flush or straight. The odds of completing are good enough.
- Never hold a kicker. If you have a pair of Jacks, discard the other three cards.
- With nothing, hold high cards (J, Q, K, A) and discard the rest.
